RESOLUTION APPROVING NEW AND UPGRADED POSITIONS IN 1998
AND FREEZING REQUESTS FOR ANY ADDITIONAL POSITIONS

WHEREAS, requests for new positions or upgrades have been reviewed by the Personnel
Committee and the Finance Committee; and
WHEREAS, the committees recommend approval of 2 regular part-time
telecommunicator positions for the Emergency Communications Department, effective January 1,
1998. There will be no additional cost for these positions in 1998; and
WHEREAS, the committees recommend approval of an upgrade of the secretary position
in the Zoning Department by increasing regular lfrom 30 hours to 40 hours per week,
effective January 1, 1998. There will be an additional cost for this upgrade in 1998 of
approximately $1,800; and
WHEREAS, the Finance Committee recommends a freeze on any additional requests for
new or upgraded positions as one way to achieve the County Board's goal of holding down
property taxes of St. Croix County residents, to honor the budget process requirement of planning
for future position needs, and to maintain proper management of the contingency fund.
THEREFORE, be it resolved by the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors that:
1. Two regular part -time telecommunicator positions are approved, effective January
1, 1998, with no additional cost for these positions in 1998.
2. An upgrade of the position of secretary in the Zoning Department by increasing
regular hours from 30 hours per week to 40 hours per week is approved, effective
January 1, 1998, with an additional cost of approximately $1,800 in 1998.

3. A freeze is hereby imposed on any other requests for new or upgraded positions
for 1998, unless the position is grant-funded from sources other than property tax
dollars, produces revenue, or results from a department/office reorganization.
