RESOLUTION it., (
WHEREAS, Chapter 938.06 (5) of the Juvenile Justice Code allows the
use of placement in a secure detention facility or in the juvenile
portion of a county jail as a disposition for adjudicated
delinquent juveniles; and
WHEREAS, this disposition will provide an alternative to Lincoln
Hills Correctional placements that are typically longer than 30
days in duration; and
WHEREAS, the placement of the juvenile may be for any combination
of single or consecutive days totalling not more than 30; and
WHEREAS, the St. Croix County Department of Health and Human
Services is committed to holding juveniles accountable for
delinquent behavior that is committed in the community; and
WHEREAS, the legislative change requires that this dispositional
alternative be approved and authorized by the County Board of
Supervisors.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the St. Croix County Board of
Supervisors that effective August 20, 1996, the St. Croix County
Department of Health and Human Services is authorized to utilize
short -term detention as a dispositional alternative to be
recommended to the Court. The utilization of short -term detention
shall be limited to the established procedure of the Department's
Family and Children's Unit and by Order of the Court.
