Primary Services Deputy, Sheriff's Department Funding Source: the Public Protection Committee has directed that the Sheriff's Department seek federal- funding grants for these three deputy positions. These positions were approved with the understanding that a juvenile officer position would be created from the existing staff. The Sheriff has estimated that the three -year COUNTY costs (property tax) for these positions would be: 1997: $99,051 1998: $68,037 1999: $93,479 This would mean that part of the wage and benefit costs for these positions would be supplemented by federal grant dollars. The federal grant would not pay for initial equipping of the officers, squad cars, or overtime costs. These are estimates only. The following position was approved and recommended to the County Board by the Personnel Committee; it was reviewed and sent to the County Board without recommendation from the Finance Committee: 8.)
