Therefore, this notice also serves as notice of a meeting of the County Board for the purpose of obtaining information relating to subjects listed above for use at future County Board meetings. (Items may be taken in different order) * *Additions /Changes /Corrections SUBMITTED BY Brad Beckman, ADRC Manager COPIES TO County Board Office, County Clerk, News Media/ Notice Board, Committee Members Items for County Board approval must be submitted to the County Clerk's office by Wednesday morning preceding a County Board meeting. 04/04/2012 1:00 PM "Official" COUNCIL ON AGING AND DISABILTIES MEETING April 19, 2012 County Board Room, Government Center, Hudson, WI CALL TO ORDER: Council Chair Nelson called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. Pledge of Allegiance was said. ROLL CALL: Council members: Michelle Chevalier, Sue Nelson, Ramsey Lee, Vera Grant, Judy Belisle, and Lois Burri. Also present: ADRC Manager Brad Beckman; Community Services Coordinator Tracy Davis; Administrative Assistant Renea Aeschliman. Excused was Council member Deb Brennan. ACTION OF PREVIOUS MINUTES: A motion to approve the minutes of the March 15 meeting was made by Council member Grant; seconded by Council member Burri; motion carried. DATE OF NEXT MEETING: Thursday, May 17, 2012 at the New Richmond Senior Center, The Community Commons, New Richmond. Monthly Financial Report & Staffing Report: Beckman informed the Council there is no financial report due to the change in the Finance Department. Beckman also informed the Council the contracted Benefit Specialist position has been posted with April 27 as the application deadline. Interviews will take place in May. 2. Denise Gillen, Information & Assistance presentation Gillen informed the Council since the Family Care cap was lifted, the Information & Assistance Specialist will be sending out letters to those individuals on the waitlist. Those that are not financially eligible will be removed. Others that are financially and functionally eligible will be enrolled. 3. Ray Morris, Emergency Management Morris provided the Council members with handouts on emergency preparedness. He spoke on how older Americans and people with disabilities should prepare for an emergency. The information he shared summarized the three steps to personal preparedness — getting/making a kit, making a plan, and being informed. 4. Review of County Board By -Laws effective April 17, 2012 Agenda item will be tabled until next meeting. 5. Aging Updates: Beckman informed the Council the New Richmond Senior Center will be open on Tuesdays starting May 1 The Hammond Senior Center location will be moving to the Trinity Lutheran Church May 1 Beckman and Davis will be meeting with the Village of Woodville regarding inclusion of the Woodville Senior Center in the new Woodville Fire Hall. a. Senior Center/Nutrition Program i. Annual Countywide Card Tournament: Davis informed the Council the Card Tournament is underway and Woodville is in the lead with Hudson at the bottom. There have been approximately 76 player per tournament. Somerset will host the next tournament. b. Transportation Program i. Transportation Requests Davis presented transportation requests for River Falls Senior Center to Arcadia & Blair on May 19; Baldwin, Hammond, Roberts, and Woodville Senior Centers to Stillwater for boat trip on June 29. A motion to accept the transportation requests was made by Council member Burri; seconded by Council member Belisle; motion carried. 6. ADRC updates: a. Family Care Cap Services — update: Croix County is now in entitlement. Beckman reminded the Council the CAP has been lifted and St. Gillen spoke on the most recent numbers from the Information & Council on Aging & Disabilities Page 1 05/22/12 Assistance Specialists. Currently there are 94 individuals on the county waitlist. Since the Family Care Cap was put into place, there have been two disenrollments from CHP; eleven enrollments into CHP- Family Care; four IRIS enrollments; three IRIS disenrollment. 7. Correspondence Beckman read thanks you from Esther Wentz, Buzz Marzolf, and Emily Thompson who will be completing an internship in the fall with the ADRC. Beckman shared an article that was in the Hudson Star Observer regarding the Nutrition Program. Beckman informed the Council members of a couple of upcoming events — the Golf Scramble on June 22 and the Senior Picnic on June 15. He also reminded Council members of the upcoming Volunteer Banquet on April 27 and to be sure to RSVP with the office. Adiourn: A motion to adjourn was made by Council member Grant and seconded by Council member Burri; motion carried.
