notice also serves as notice of a meeting of the County Board for the purpose of obtaining information relating to subjects

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
APRIL 26, 2012
CALL TO ORDER: Supervisor Agnes Ring called the meeting to order at 2:30 p.m.
ROLL CALL - Members Present: Supervisors Andy Brinkman, Agnes Ring, Travis
Schachtner and FSA Representative Edward Sontag. Richard Ottino was excused. Duane
Russett was absent.
STAFF PRESENT: Pat Thompson, Pete Kling, Bob Heise, Joan Sprain, Beth Pabst and Don
Gillen.
BUSINESS ITEMS
Election of Officers: Ring opened up the nominations for Chair. Schachtner nominated Ring.
Ring asked three times for any further nominations. Motion by Schachtner to close nominations
and cast a unanimous ballot. Motion carried. Chair Ring opened up the nominations for Vice
Chair. Schachtner nominated Brinkman. Chair Ring asked three times for any further
nominations. Motion by Schachtner to close nominations and cast a unanimous ballot. Motion
carried. Ring opened up nominations for Secretary. Brinkman nominated Schachtner. Motion
by Brinkman to close nominations and go to consent vote. Motion carried.
Establish Regular Meeting Schedule: It was determined that the Community Development
Committee meetings would be held the third Thursday of each month at 6:00 p.m. in the Hudson
community room.
Department Fact Sheet Review from Orientation Binder: Thompson explained that
Department Heads will describe each of their program areas. Heise gave an overview of the
Land and Water Conservation Department and described the duties of the Parks Department.
Pabst gave an overview of the Register of Deeds, also describing the link between Register of
Deeds and the Planning and Zoning Land Information division, and the data that gets used for
the County GIS mapping. Kling explained the Planning and Zoning Department and the three
divisions within the department, which include Code Administration, Land Information, and
Planning. He also highlighted the duties assigned in each division, and updated the committee
on the St. Croix River crossing project, which will have a large impact on the Planning and
Zoning Department
ADJOURN: Chair Ring adjourned the meeting at 3:43 p.m.
