OFFICIAL MINUTES OF THE ST.CROIX COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
Regular Meeting - May 1, 2012
Meeting called to order by Chair Standafer at 6:00 p.m. The invocation was given by Pastor Jacob Oresso of
UWEZO Wisconsin. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
ROLL CALL: 19 Present
CONSENT AGENDA: Motion by Supr. Horne, 2nd by Supr. Peavey to adopt the consent agenda approving
the April 17, 2012 minutes and setting the next meeting for June 5, 2012. Carried unanimously.
PRESENTATION: Bob Meyer, WITC President presented a report on Wisconsin Indianhead Technical
College (WITC). Meyer indicated St. Croix County is the most populous county in the WITC district.
Meyer reviewed programs offered. Meyer indicated 83% of the WITC graduates are staying in the state of
Wisconsin. Meyer reviewed enrollment at the four campuses and online registrations. Review of levy and
budget information. Discussion regarding internships.
APPOINTMENTS: Committee/Board Appointments. County Administrator Thompson distributed the
2012 County Administrator Appointments. Motion by Supr. Yoerg, 2nd by Supr. Schachtner to approve.
Carried unanimously.
COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT: County Administrator Patrick Thompson reported all
standing committees of the County Board have met and are organized. Thompson explained the process in
preparing and distributing agendas and minutes. Thompson reported Corporation Counsel staff is working
on a detailed report by department, listing mandated and non-mandated county programs and services.
Thompson noted committee members will begin practicing with the new document management software at
their May and June meetings. Thompson provided an update on recruiting and hiring a Finance Director and
Planning and Zoning Director. Thompson shared positive comments he received on Information Technology
employee Annette Massie and Planning and Zoning employee Jennifer Havens. Thompson noted he
distributed a letter from the Public Service Commission regarding the wind turbine project in the Towns of
Forest and Cylon.
ANNUAL COMMITTEE AND DEPARTMENT REPORTS: Art Tobin, Building Services Director and
Tom Boron, Information Technology Director were present and submitted written reports. No questions.
OLD AND NEW BUSINESS: None.
County Clerk's Report of Correspondence and Rezoning Requests: County Clerk Campbell had no
correspondence or rezoning requests.
Announcements: None.
