Resolution No. 1 (p)
St. Croix County, Wisconsin
WHEREAS, the St. Croix County Transportation Committee has been aware of the
pending proposals regarding metrification (using the metric system) in Wisconsin; and
WHEREAS, the proposals include metrification of highway signs in the County; and
WHEREAS, the St. Croix County Transportation Committee has determined that this
would have a significant cost impact on St. Croix County; and
WHEREAS, the estimated cost for the County highway system alone would be
$80,000 - $100,000; and
WHEREAS, the prime goal of metrification is related to world trade and
metrification of highway signs in the St. Croix County highway system would have virtually
no impact on world trade;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors
that it opposes metrification in general and metrification of highway signs specifically;
FURTHER, be it resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the U.S. and
Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
