PROPERTY IN VILLAGE OF NORTH HUDSON

St. Croix County, Wisconsin
WHEREAS, section 85.09, Wisconsin Statutes, provides that the Wisconsin
Department of Transportation (WisDOT) shall have the first right to acquire any property
used in operating a railroad or railway which has been abandoned; and
WHEREAS, WisDOT may assign this right of acquisition to, among other entities,
a county, city, village or town; and
WHEREAS, railroad property in the Village of North Hudson near the Lake
Mallalieu dam is to be abandoned; and
WHEREAS, WisDOT is willing to assign its right of acquisition of this property to
the Village of North Hudson or the City of Hudson (the Village and City are cooperating
in this matter) but first wants to know the position of the County in regard to acquiring the
property; and
WHEREAS, the property would be used for public recreation purposes if acquired
by the Village or City; and
WHEREAS, the Finance Committee recommends that the County not pursue
acquisition of this property.
THEREFORE, be it resolved by the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors that St.
Croix County hereby waives any interest it may have in acquiring the property described
herein.
