AND 1993 SENATE BILL 462, RELATING TO
THE CLEANUP OF CONTAMINATED LAND
THAT IS TAX DELINQUENT
Resolution No. it 6 (g3';
St. Croix County, Wisconsin
WHEREAS, real estate tax delinquency on lands that are contaminated is becoming more prevalent
throughout Wisconsin; and
WHEREAS, this situation puts counties in the difficult position of choosing to take a tax deed on
these properties and becoming potentially liable for cleanup, or not take a tax deed and allow real estate
taxes which the County has to pay to continue to be assessed on the property; and
WHEREAS, 1993 Senate Bill 461 and 1993 Senate Bill 462 have been introduced in the State
Senate which provide cleanup exemptions to counties that take tax deeds on contaminated lands and for
a remedial action grant program.
THEREFORE, be it resolved by the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors that it supports 1993
Senate Bill 461 and 1993 Senate Bill 462.
FURTHER, be it resolved that the County Clerk send a copy of this resolution to State Senator
Brian Burke, who sought the County's support for the bills, and State Senator Alice Clausing.
