PURCHASE OF LAND FOR PROPOSED FACILITY IMPROVEMENTS
COUNTY OF ST. CROIX
WHEREAS, the Highway Department has maintained a long range facility
improvement plan to promote the greatest efficiency of operations
AND WHEREAS, the Highway Committee has determined that to ensure effective,
efficient operations from its Hudson facility, as well as the Cady area
maintenance operations, with the extensive increase in maintenance demands
of the areas, that facility improvements will be necessary in the near
future.
AND WHEREAS, the Highway Committee has researched available land in the
areas and located parcels that would be beneficial in both location and
cost.
AND WHEREAS, the Highway Committee currently has statutory authority to
purchase all equipment and land necessary for "Highway Purposes ".
AND WHEREAS, it has been determined that land purchases for facility
improvements do not necessarily constitute "Highway Purposes ".
AND WHEREAS, funds for the purchase of this land would be solely derived
from Highway Department operating funds with no additional impact on the
current County budget.
THEREFORE, be it resolved that the St. Croix County full Board of
Supervisors authorizes the Highway Committee to secure options and purchase
said lands that they determine in the best interest of the County to
maintain efficient, effective highway operations.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Highway Committee is authorized to sell,
exchange or otherwise dispose of land and buildings it manages that are to
be replaced by the acquisition of new lands.
AND, also authorize that the revenue from the sale of existing facilities
shall remain a part of the Department's operating funds to help offset the
expenses of a new facility and again minimize or delete any impact on the
general County budget process.
