HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 1992 (10) RESOLUTION REQUESTING INCREASED PER CAPITA COMMUNITY AIDS FUNDING FROM THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND SOCIAL SERVICES / ©CT ;� Whereas, St. Croix County is required under Wisconsin law to provide community services; and Whereas, these services are funded partially by State and Federal dollars, and the balance of costs covered by County monies; and Whereas, per capita reimbursement for community aids funding was $27.05 in 1991, compared to a statewide average to other counties of $48.43; and Whereas, this results in increased costs to St. Croix County of approximately $1,083 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the St. Croix Board of Supervisors respectfully requests the Wisconsin State Department of Health and Social Services and Governor Tommy Thompson to recognize the rapid growth in St. Croix County both in terms of population and social problems, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors respectfully request an increase in State funding, consistent with the statewide average. Croix County • affirms its commitment to American workers and products: the cornerstone of this country's economic strength. St . Croix County stands united behind the American work ethic and the quality products for which our country has a long and well -known tradition. Therefore, wherever possible, St . Croix County will utilize its considerable purchasing power to support United States workers and products in hannony with the maxim of cost efficiency of service for our taxpayers and citizens. Our commitment to American workers and products is not intended to preclude transactions of a mutually beneficial nature where cooperative international business and economic ties exist. By this action, St . Croix County signifies its adoption of Priority U.S.A. and forwards a copy of this resolution to the Wisconsin Counties Association so that St . Croix County nay be recorded as a supporter of PRIORITY U.S.A. • Recognize and support the value of the American worker • Initiate, maintain and support the long tradition of quality American workmanship • Work with businesses, labor and other levels of government to improve access to economic markets in other countries • Direct county government's substantial buying power toward the purchase and use of American products • Recognize and support transactions of a mutually beneficial nature where cooperative international business and economic ties exist • Recognize and promote the vitality of America's work force in our nation's economic recovery efforts
