ST. CROIX COUNTY VICTIMS' RIGHTS WEEK

WHEREAS, crime victims and their advocates across the nation have
made tremendous strides toward balancing the scales of jus-
tice in our criminal justice system; and
WHEREAS, the road to victim justice has been paved over the past
two decades with the commitment, perserverance and spirit of
millions of survivors who proudly carry the banner of jus-
tice in our nation; and
WHEREAS, the thirty -five million Americans who are victimized by
crime each year need and deserve quality programs and ser-
vices to help them recover from the devastating effects of
crime; and
WHEREAS, to fight the continuing threat of crime and victimiza-
tion, all Americans must join together, committing their
individual and collective resources to crime prevention and
victim services;
WHEREAS, the St. Croix County Victim /Witness Assistance Program
is joining forces with victim service programs, criminal
justice officials and concerned citizens throughout Wiscon-
sin to observe 1992 National Crime Victims' Rights Week;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the St. Croix County Board
of Supervisors designates the week of April 26 to May 2,
1992, as St. Croix County National Victims' Rights Week; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the St. Croix County Board of Super-
visors reaffirms its commitment to address victims' rights
and criminal justice issues during 1992 St. Croix County
Crime Victims' Rights Week and throughout the year.
