REQUIRING A TWO- THIRDS VOTE TO
APPROVE NEW FULL -TIME POSITIONS

WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors (Board) adopted Resolution 19(90) on August
14, 1990 requiring a two- thirds majority vote of the Board to approve new full -time
positions; and
WHEREAS, the Attorney General for the State of Wisconsin issued an opinion on
September 10, 1991 in which he indicated that counties may not impose a voting
requirement in excess of a majority of the Board members present to approve a new or
additional position; and
WHEREAS, the Administration committee recommends compliance with the
Attorney General's opinion;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors
that Resolution No. 19(90) be and is hereby revoked; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County rules and bylaws be amended by
deleting from Art. V, sec. B., par. 14, the reference to adoption of any new county positions.
