SUBSTANCE ABUSE COMMITTEE
July 26, 2012
The Substance Abuse Committee met on July 26, 2012 at the St. Croix County Government
Center.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Roger Larson
Ron Kiesler

Convener Larson called the meeting to order at 4:05 PM noting the meeting was properly and
legally publicized.
ELECTION OF OFFICERS: Convener Larson asked for nominations for Chair. Kiesler
nominated Larson. Larson called for other nominations three times and nominations were
closed.
Motion: Motion by Kiesler, seconded by Larson, and unanimously adopted: That Larson is the
Chair of the Substance Abuse Subcommittee.
Chair Larson asked for nominations for Vice Chair. Larson nominated Kiesler. Larson called for
other nominations three times and nominations were closed.
Motion: Motion by Larson, seconded by Kiesler, and unanimously adopted: That Kiesler is the
Vice Chair of the Substance Abuse Subcommittee.
Chair Larson asked for nominations for Secretary. Kiesler nominated Brinkman. Larson called
for other nominations three times and nominations were closed.
Motion: Motion by Larson, seconded by Kiesler, and unanimously adopted: That Brinkman is the
Secretary of the Substance Abuse Subcommittee.

REVIEW OF ST. CROIX COUNTY BYLAWS: Overview of the County Bylaws related to the
role of the Substance Abuse Subcommittee was completed. The role of the Substance Abuse
Subcommittee prior to changes in the current County Bylaws was reviewed.
ESTABLISH MEETING SCHEDULE: Quarterly meetings will be held on the fourth Thursday of
the month. The next meeting is scheduled for October 25, 2012 at 4:00 PM.
COMMITTEE NETWORKING-ALCOHOL AND OTHER DRUG PROGRAMS: Report on
Summit on Children reviewed. Workgroups based upon age of children have been formed to focus
on social and emotional well-being. A survey is likely to be completed and input on the survey
from this committee was requested. The survey will be addressed at the next meeting.
Report on St. Croix Valley Behavioral Health Coop and work that is being done in the region to
address alcohol and other drug abuse and mental health needs from a hospital perspective. This
Health Partners affiliated group has brought in Pierce, Polk and St. Croix County Behavioral Health
Providers for input as well.
The 25-year anniversary for Hudson Hospital Programs for Change celebration will be held on
October 11th, 2012. More information will be provided.
