Re: Soil on-site (SW 1/4 SW '/a Sec 22 Town of Glenwood - Mark Lundeen)
On May 2, 2003 a soil on-site was completed due to a report of marginal soils. Tom Gustom
completed the original soil report on August 11, 2000. This on-site was required as part of the
review for a proposed subdivision. Staff (Jon Sonnentag & Pam Quinn) has determined that this
site is not suitable for a proposed septic system.
The day was mostly sunny with temperatures in the upper 60's. A hand boring was completed
along the upper edge of the proposed system area; the soil borings were not labeled on the
report. It was determined that the soil report is not accurate and will not be acceptable.
Redoximorphic features were observed just below an A horizon of approximately 6-7 inches. It
was also concluded that the second horizon has a platy structure, not sub-angular blocky. There
is a possibility that this site may work if an interpretive determination is completed. However,
much of the remaining landscape is at a higher elevation and would be more suitable for a septic
system. Mr. Lundeen was present and he will contract with a certified soil tester to locate a new

Dear Mr. Weber:
On March 7, 2003, the St. Croix County Technical Review Committee reviewed the Concept map for
the Mark Lundeen Property in the Town of Glenwood. The Committee made the following comments:
1. A soil on-site is required due to marginal soils. Please direct the CST to schedule an
appointment with our office.
2. This submittal must be compliant with section 18.16(x) of the St. Croix County
Subdivision ordinance, including the submittal of a site plan for each lot consistent with
section 18.16(K)(3)(g).
3. The following note shall be placed on the map: "Lots 1 and 2 are currently zoned
Commercial. Any future use must be approved consistent with Section 17.18 of the St.
Croix County Zoning Ordinance."
The proposed CSM will not be scheduled on the PZPC agenda until the above items are addressed.
This will be considered agreeable unless a written objection is submitted to the Zoning Department
prior to the next PZPC meeting. In the case that an objection is received, the map may be heard by the
PZPC and a decision made on the information available. If you have any questions or concerns, please
