Quinn, A. Schumaker Hammond, WI 54015 This investigation was requested by the county to assist in verification of soil conditions that are possibly marginal for a mound system installation. The first two soil pits reviewed were in the area described on CST Schumaker's report dated 12/5/2002. The soils in this area exhibited redoximorphic features immediately below the A-horizon and thus the area is not suitable for a mound system. A soil pit in the SW corner of Lot 47 was checked and found to be suitable for a mound system using A+4 criteria. The entire area was not checked however, and the CST is responsible for identifying an area large enough to properly site a mound system. Frost conditions prevented a detailed evaluation of all soil morphological features. However, the A- horizon and first few inches of subsoil were unfrozen. Based on my observations in the secondary area there was at least 4-inches of subsoil material free of redox features and this depth is deemed suitable for mound system installation.
