ST CRD - UNTy RESOLUTION TO ADOPT THE ST. CROIX COUNTY OUTDOOR
L i sI S{.ft RECREATION PLAN - 2013 - 2017
WHEREAS, sec. 59.69(1) and (3), Wisconsin Statutes, authorizes counties to prepare and adopt a
county development plan under the county's planning and zoning authority; and

2 WHEREAS, the St. Croix County Outdoor Recreation Plan is an element of the County
3 Development Plan; and
4
5 WHEREAS, St. Croix County's Outdoor Recreation Plan was last updated in 2006 and is outdated;
6 and
7
8 WHEREAS, the Community Development Committee desires to apply to the Department of
9 Natural Resources for matching grants, and has determined that an update to the St. Croix County
10 Outdoor Recreation Plan is required to obtain funding assistance; and
11
12 WHEREAS, St. Croix County provides outdoor recreational opportunities to its residents and
13 visitors to promote public health and well-being of individuals and families, improve the
14 attractiveness of the county and contribute to the social and economic health of the county and its
15 communities; and
16
17 WHEREAS, the Community Development Committee and county staff have gathered input from
18 county residents, businesses and organizations regarding county parks, trails, boat landings and
19 other outdoor recreation activities; and
20
21 WHEREAS, the Community Development Committee held a public hearing on the St. Croix
22 County Outdoor Recreation Plan; and
23
24 WHEREAS, the Community Development Committee and county staff have drafted an updated St.
25 Croix County Outdoor Recreation Plan 2013 - 2017, attached; and
26
27 WHEREAS, the St. Croix County Outdoor Recreation Plan encourages the County to incorporate
28 city, village and town outdoor recreation plans into the County Outdoor Recreation Plan thereby
29 making the county plan a regional plan for purposes of local municipal applications for state and
30 federal grants; and
31
32 WHEREAS, the following local Units of Government, Town of Somerset, Town of Warren,
33 Village of Woodville and City of Hudson, have made a formal request to the County Parks
34 Department and the Community Development Committee to have their Outdoor Recreation Plans
35 incorporated into the St. Croix County Outdoor Recreation Plan and by resolution have incorporated
36 the St. Croix County Outdoor Recreation Plan into their plans;
37
38 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors hereby adopts
39 the St. Croix County Outdoor Recreation Plan 2013 - 2017, pursuant to Wis. Stats. Section 59.69(1)
40 and (3).
