Land Information
Planning This letter confirms zoning approval according to the plans you have submitted to the Planning
715-386-4674,_:;n-,>'., and Zoning Department to erect a 96-foot wind turbine on the property referenced above in the
Town of Erin Prairie. Staff finds that the project satisfies the provisions in Section 17.12(6)(b)-
Real Praery (c) of the St Croix County Zoning Ordinance, which requires a land use permit for certain
7151.# -4677 structures exceeding the general height requirements, based on the following findings:
1. Approval of this land use permit includes the installation of a wind turbine not to exceed
Rycling 96 feet in height, including the height of the blades;
i<5-386-4675 2. The proposed wind turbine will be set back 100 feet from the road and closest property
line to help ensure that any potential future collapse would be within the boundaries of
the applicant's property;
3. The proposed wind turbine will be consistent with surrounding agricultural uses in that it
will supply renewable electricity to the applicant's home and small hobby farm;
4. According to the applicant, New Richmond Fire Chief, Jim VanderWyst, has stated that
the proposed wind turbine will not pose fire protection or safety hazards;
5. According to the applicant, New Richmond Airport representative, Mike Demulling, has
stated that any tower under 200 feet does not require a contract with them; and
6. The application was found to be complete.
This permit has been issued with the following conditions:
1. The applicant shall ensure that Best Management Practices are used during the
installation of the wind turbine to control erosion and sedimentation on site.
2. The applicant shall inform the Zoning Administrator when installation is complete and
submit photos of the completed wind turbine.
4. The applicant shall have one (1) year from the issuance of this land use permit to commence
installation of the wind turbine. If the permit expires, the applicant will be required to secure a
new land use permit.
5. Any minor change (or addition) in the project shall require review and approval by the
Zoning Administrator. Any major change and/or addition to the originally approved plans
will require the submittal of a new land use permit application.
6. Within 12 months of cessation of operation or use of the wind turbine, it shall be removed
at the applicant's expense. After the turbine is removed, the site shall be restored to its
original condition.

This approval does not allow for any structures or development beyond the limits of this request. Your
information will remain on file in the St. Croix County Planning and Zoning Department. Please contact the
Town of Erin Prairie to obtain the necessary building permits for the proposed construction. It is your
responsibility to ensure compliance with any other local, State, or federal rules or regulations.
