HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 1998 (461) ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 226(89), NONMETALLIC MINING AND RECLAMATION ORDINANCE Ordinance No. 6 % C� St. Croix County, Wisconsin WHEREAS, the County nonmetallic mining and reclamation ordinance limits permitted sites to areas of twenty acres and periods of five years; and WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors believes that some commercial operations may require larger sites to be mined over a longer period of time; and WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors believes that such operations can be effectively and safely conducted with proper long range planning and permitting; THEREFORE, the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors does hereby ordain and amends Section F.2. of Ordinance No. 226(89), the County Nonmetallic Mining and Reclamation Ordinance to read as follows (added language is underlined): 2. Active sites of up to twenty acres and for operation periods up to five years may be permitted. Renewals of permits for up to five year periods and expansions of up to twenty acres may be granted in the same manner as initial applications. In order to accommodate larger nonmetallic mining sites, operators may submit for approval long - range operation and reclamation plans which encompass more than twenty acres and an operation period of more than five years. In no case shall an area greater than twenty acres be open to extraction at any given time. Permits for such operations shall be subject to an annual review and shall be subject to modification based on changes to current law., regulations or industry standards.
