OF CHAPTER 17, ST. CROIX COUNTY ZONING CODE,
REGULATING THE ST. CROIX RIVER VALLEY DISTRICT

St. Croix County, Wisconsin
WHEREAS, NR118 outlines the Department of Natural Resources Standards and
Criteria for the Lower St. Croix National Scenic Riverway; and
WHEREAS, NR118 states that the height of any structure shall not exceed 35 feet
above ground level; and
WHEREAS, Chapter 17, Section 17.36(5)(e) of the St. Croix County Zoning Code
states that the height of any structure shall not exceed 25 feet from basement floor to
peak of roof; and
WHEREAS, the County is authorized to enact zoning regulations to promote the
public health, safety and general welfare of the citizens of St. Croix County as provided
under Section 59.69, Wisconsin Statutes; and
WHEREAS, the Planning, Zoning and Parks Committee held a public hearing on
May 26, 1998 to consider amending the County regulation to be consistent with NR118.
THEREFORE, the Planning, Zoning and Parks Committee having considered all
testimony presented at the hearing recommend the County Board of Supervisors
approve an amendment to the St. Croix County Zoning code as follows:
Section 17.36(5)(e) repeal existing language and insert:
Height: The height of any structure shall not exceed 35 feet. Height is
determined by measuring from the lowest floor with exterior access or the lowest
exposed foundation point (whichever is lower) to the highest point of the roof.
