RESOLUTION # /1 (91)
WHEREAS, Wisconsin counties and the University of Wisconsin -
Extension have joined in a strong and lasting partnership to
extend the resources of the University to the people of the
state, and;
WHEREAS, the statewide Extension program involves the
commitment of state, federal and county funds to support the
teaching and applied research of UW- Extension faculty and staff
in the counties and on the University campuses, and;
WHEREAS, a 1975 administrative policy has forced the
reallocation of Extension funds and the elimination of positions,
thus reducing the overall capacity of the statewide Extension
system, and;
WHEREAS, continued application of this administrative policy
will require further reallocations and reductions in the
statewide Extension program at a time when extension education is
critically important to the people of the state;
NOW, THEREFORE, the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors
call on Senator William Berndt and Representatives Harvey Stower,
28th District; Alvin Baldus, 29th District; and Sheila Harsdorf,
30th District to support the efforts of the counties of the state
and UW- Extension as they seek a permanent solution to the
problems created by this administrative policy.
