OF THE ST. CROIX COUNTY GOVERNMENT CENTER

WHEREAS, the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors recognizes the overcrowded
condition of the County jail and the possible liability from allowing that situation to
continue; and
WHEREAS, the Board also recognizes the necessity of providing adequate work
space for County employees and for the public; and
WHEREAS, existing facilities are inadequate, inefficient and obsolete; and
WHEREAS, the interdependence of County departments now located in Hudson
requires them to be located in the same facility in order to maximize public convenience
and departmental efficiency; and
WHEREAS, designing a Government Center to be constructed in stages over several
years substantially increases the total cost, and thus the tax burden on county residents; and
WHEREAS, the design stage would: provide drawings and documents illustrating
the scale and relationship of the project components; and fix and describe the size and
character of the project as to architectural, structural, mechanical and electrical systems,
materials and estimated construction cost based on current area, volume or other unit costs;
and
WHEREAS, an amount has been budgeted for professional services to proceed with
the design stage of a Government Center;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the St. Croix County Board of
Supervisors, meeting in regular session, that the Government Center /Jail Planning
Committee engage architectural services to complete the design stage as described above
for public safety departments, four courts and their related departments, administrative
departments, and a jail.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Chairman of the Board of Supervisors and
the County Clerk execute the contract for architectural services on behalf of St. Croix
County.
