RESOLUTION # 2
WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the Government Center /Jail
Planning Committee that the 1900 West Courthouse is currently not
being fully utilized;
WHEREAS, that facility does not meet the handicapped acces-
sibility codes of the federal government;
WHEREAS, the operational costs of that facility continue to
grow in view of ongoing maintenance of a historical building; and
WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the Government Center /Jail
Planning Committee that this building can better serve the commu-
nity through a private sector use, since the facility cannot be
available for economical, public sector utilization;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Government
Center /Jail Planning Committee recommends to the St. Croix County
Board of Supervisors to recommend that the Finance, Building and
Bond Committee initiate the process of the sale of the 1900 West
Courthouse.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Finance, Building and Bond
Committee be given full latitude in marketing the facility and
that the proposals received regarding the facility be evaluated
on the basis of "best use to the community" and financial return
to the General Fund.
