WHEREAS, St. Croix County is committed to recycling as a
component of an over -all solid waste management program; and
WHEREAS, effective recycling reduces the volume of solid
waste which must be incinerated and preserves scarce landfill
capacity; and
WHEREAS, the Wisconsin Department of Administration has made
funds available through its Waste -to- Energy Evaluation and
Technical Assistance Grant Program which could be used to help
design and implement recycling programs; and
WHEREAS, St. Croix County is in the process of developing a
recycling plan; and
WHEREAS, funds from an Assistance Grant would facilitate the
development and implementation of a recycling plan;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the St. Croix County Board
of Supervisors, that St. Croix County apply for a Waste -to-
Energy Evaluation and Technical Assistance Grant in the amount of
$2,500.00 to provide funds necessary to develop and implement a
recycling plan;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that St. Croix County will match a
grant with an amount to be used for developing and
implementing a recycling plan;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that St. Croix County authorizes the
Chairman of the Waste Management Committee to complete and sign
the necessary documents for application, to provide any necessary
additional information and take other appropriate action to
enhance the application.
