HABITAT MANAGEMENT PROGRAM

WHEREAS, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR)
has adopted a policy to protect, maintain, restore and enhance
fish habitat and aquatic life through pollution control, water
regulation, inland lake renewal, zoning, and public and private
habitat improvement programs; and
WHEREAS, the policy endorses the public's right to fish the
waters improved by the programs; and
WHEREAS, the improvement programs are funded by the DNR; and
WHEREAS, St. Croix County has trout streams on private land
that may qualify for habitat improvement programs if the owner of
an area to be improved grants an easement to the area for at
least 20 years; and
WHEREAS, St. Croix County could obtain the easements through
a written agreement with a private land owner;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the St. Croix County Board
of Supervisors, meeting in regular session, that the St. Croix
County Land Conservation Committee is hereby authorized to enter
into easement agreements with private landowners for purposes
associated with the Department of Natural Resources trealareem
