HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 1988 (02) RESOLUTION SUPPORTING ASSEMBLY BILL 199 Resolution # ;7(41) WHEREAS, 1987 Assembly Bill 199, prepared and referred to the Committee on Ways and Means, is an act to repeal Section 38.16 DISTRICT TAX LEVY (1) which now levies a tax not exceeding 1.5 mills on the full value of the taxable property of a district to support the financing of vocational, technical, and adult education; and WHEREAS, if enacted, 1987 Assembly Bill 199 would abolish the authority of a vocational, technical and adult education district board to levy taxes and repeals the current state aid formula; and WHEREAS, said formula is based to a certain extent on the district's property valuation for these schools levying a total property tax in St. Croix County of $1,955,368.36 for 1986. WHEREAS, it appears to be in the best interest of St. Croix County to favor the repeal of State Statutes Chapter 38.16 as stated in Assembly Bill 199, NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors, meeting in regular session, favors the repeal of State Statutes 38.16 as stated in Assembly Bill 199, which requires the State of Wisconsin Treasury to pay all costs of vocational, technical and adult education otherwise now payable by property tax revenues. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Clerk for St. Croix County is hereby directed to send copies of this Resolution to the Governor and all area legislators governing St. Croix County.
