WHEREAS, Wisconsin has been without an obscenity statute
since June of 1980, and in the absence of that statute, Wisconsin
communities are beginning to enact their own local obscenity
ordinances; and
WHEREAS, pornography and obscenity, when not policed and
controlled by laws, become dangerous material in today's society;
and
WHEREAS, in order for there to be constitutional,
enforceable obscenity laws which are uniform, it appears to be
necessary for action to be by the State Legislature in this
regard; and
WHEREAS, Senate Bill 31 and Assembly Bill 175 would curb and
control pornography and obscenity,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the St. Croix County
Board of Supervisors, meeting in regular session, goes on record
supporting Senate Bill 31 and Assembly Bill 175.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Clerk for St. Croix
County is hereby directed to send copies of this Resolution to
Governor Thompson and all area legislators governing St. Croix
County. _
