WHEREAS, youth suicide is a nationally recognized concern;
and
WHEREAS, positively involved youth rarely see suicide as a
solution; and
WHEREAS, allowing children to develop problem solving skills
through structured experience is an essential life skill; and
WHEREAS, insurance companies often set coverage limits and
licensing standards for therapist counseling services that
prevent students and their families from receiving needed
services, and
WHEREAS, the Wisconsin Social Services Association has
recommended that insurance companies provide increased coverage
for suicide intervention;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the St. Croix County
Board of Supervisors, meeting in regular session, recommends that
insurance companies provide increased coverage for suicide
intervention; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that more money be made available on
all levels (Federal, State, and Local) for suicide prevention
programs; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Clerk for St. Croix
County is directed to furnish copies of this resolution to
Governor Tommy Thompson, area legislators, and the State
Insurance Commission.
