SUPPORTING THE LOCATION OF A STATE CORRECTIONAL FACILITY
IN JACKSON COUNTY, WISCONSIN
WHEREAS, the State of Wisconsin is continuing to consider
various locations for the construction of a prison within the
State of Wisconsin Correctional System; and
WHEREAS, the placement of such facilities should equitably
distribute the responsibilities and benefits to the geographic
regions of the State and to accomplish that goal, a facility
should be located in the West - Central region of the State; and
WHEREAS, Jackson County has adequate resources to support
such a project within the County, including, but not limited to,
airport facilities, building sites, potential employees,
education facilities, fire and police protection, a community
hospital, excel lent other community support services,
transportation services and central location between major
regional cities; and
WHEREAS, the construction and operation of such a facility
in Jackson County would be a benefit to the County; Therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, by the St. Croix County Board of
Supervisors, that this Board express its support and desire for
the locating of a State Correctional facility within the borders
of Jackson County, and as adopted by the Jackson County Board of
Supervisors on December 18, 1986; and that copies of this
Resolution be forwarded to the Governor of the State of
Wisconsin, the Administrator of the State Correctional System,
State Legislators, officials from surrounding counties and any
other persons or agencies which may support the provisions of
this resolution. /J /77
