HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 1986 (19) RESOLUTION CONCERNING REDUCING PROGRAMS RESULTING FROM REDUCTION IN STATE AND FEDERAL AIDS TO MINIMIZE LOCAL TAX INCREASES. Resolution # ) WHEREAS, part of the Governor's budget reduction bill contains a recommendation to not "replace any reductions in Federal Aid to State agencies with increased State appropriations in the 1985 -87 biennium "; and WHEREAS, it is recommended that St. Croix County adopt a similar policy as other counties have elected to do. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors, meeting in regular session, does hereby declare its intent to reduce any programs to offset any reductions in Federal and State aids to minimize additional appropriations of County funds and increases in the property tax rate; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that department heads be advised and directed to monitor and review reductions in aids for maintenance of on -going programs during 1986 and be prepared to notify governing committees and boards of anticipated reductions with recommendations, options and impact; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all County departments are hereby notified that committees, boards and County Board approval must be granted before continuation of any program is guaranteed if and when reductions in State and Federal aid would result in an additional tax burden to the County of St. Croix; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Clerk submit copies of this Resolution to the Wisconsin Counties Association, State Legislators representing St. Croix County, all County Board Chairpersons, and all St. Croix County Department Heads.
