RESOLUTION CONCERNING PROPOSED LEGISLATION ON MINIMUM JAIL CELL SIZE
RESOLUTION #85 ,j (d S)
WHEREAS, the Department of Health and Social Services has proposed a
minimum jail cell size of 100 square feet, and
WHEREAS, such proposed legislation will be presented to the current
session of the Wisconsin Senate and Assembly, and
WHEREAS, the present jail facilities at St. Croix County jail cannot be
expanded to meet the 100 square foot requirement, and
WHEREAS, the proposed minimum requirement is far in excess of the re-
quirement set by the Department of Health and Social Services, and
WHEREAS, the construction of a new jail facility in conformance with the
proposed 100 square foot requirement would be at great expense to the citizens
of St. Croix County,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the jail study committee opposes any
imposition of a 100 square foot minimum jail cell requirement proposed by the
Department of Health and Social Services.
