CAPITAL COSTS OF THE STATE COURT SYSTEM THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE
STATE OF WISCONSIN.

WHEREAS, in the last revamping of the court system in
Wisconsin, County Courts were eliminated and a State Court system
was then created; and
WHEREAS, under this new system, judicial salaries and those
of court reporters including fringe benefits are financed out of
State GPR funds with all other court - related costs of general
operations and capital being financed by the county property
taxpayer; and
WHEREAS, the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors is
desirous of supporting legislation which transfers certain court
support operations and positions to the State of Wisconsin; and
WHEREAS, it is estimated that those positions and functions
as enumerated herein being transferred to the State would result
in a transfer in excess of $96,767.00 from the county level to
State GPR.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the St. Croix County
Board of Supervisors, meeting in regular session, hereby declares
its support for legislation which would make all operating and
capital costs of the State court system the responsibility of the
State of Wisconsin and concurrently supports the immediate (1985-
1987 biennium) assumption by the State of the following:
salaries and fringe benefits for judicial scheduling clerks,
family court commissioners, probate and deputy probate
registrars, and law librarians.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislative Services
Director, in conjunction with the Legislative Committee, be
:authorized to pursue Lhe introduction and enactment of
,
legislation in accordance with the provisions of this resolution;
and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the St. Croix County Clerk be
and is hereby instructed to forward certified copies of this
resolution to the Wisconsin Counties Association, the area
legislators representing St. Croix County, and to the Legislative
Services Director. !
