St. Croix County, Wisconsin
WHEREAS, sec. 979.10, Wisconsin Statutes, requires a corpse to be viewed prior to
cremation; and
WHEREAS, St. Croix County provides this service through its Medical Examiner;
and
WHEREAS, St. Croix County pays the Medical Examiner $50 for viewing a corpse
prior to cremation; and
WHEREAS, cremation is an optional means of disposing of a corpse;
The St. Croix County Board of Supervisors does ordain as follows:
1. A fee of $50 shall be imposed for the viewing of a corpse prior to cremation.
2. The Medical Examiner shall bill the mortician at the time the cremation
permit is issued.

3. This ordinance is effective the day after it is officially published.
