HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 1984 (33) r v RESOLUTION CREATING JAIL STUDY C MMITTEE RESOLUTION WHEREAS, St. Croix County has experienced a significant increase in population in recent years andwill continue to do so, and WHEREAS, there has also been a steady increase in the number of persons detained and/or incarcerated at the St~. Croix County jail, causing overcrowded jail conditions at various times, and WHEREAS, Manning must also be done for future needs `of the St. Croix County Sheriff"s Department for jail facilities, and WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of St. Croix County to plan for solutions to these overcrowded jail condit#~ons, future space needs for the Sheriff"s Department, possible use of jail facilities for a secure detention facility for juveniles, and for other factors and needs as well, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors, meeting in regular session, that a Jail Study Committee is Y~ereby created, effective immediately, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Jail Study Committee shall consist of two County Board members from the Public Protection Committee, two County Board members from the Special Building Committee, and one County Board member from the Finance and Building Committee, all of whom shall be appointed by the County Board Chairman, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Jail Study Committee is authorized to draw on the available resources of all county departments and agencies, and to request funding from the County Board for necessary expenditures, and T1 1~ r rr~ r r t r rn r ~ r, r. . ~ - _  nt 11 ruxlnLn hL~5ULVLD7 that the jail Study Committee shall establish goals for the needs, size and location of the present jail facility or any proposed future jail facility and shall 1 utilize guidelines established by the National Institute of Corrections for correctional planning problems.
