EXPLANATION In March o/2Ou1. prior to mad oonstmodun, the Dunn County Surveyor's Dffiu* found a survey mark nail with o 1^ diameter head and five ties according tnatie sheet byBrandt dated z010. The survey mark nail was found at a coordinate for an old-style Berntsen monument measuredbytha Dunn County Surveyor's Office in 2005, Three ties (s5.10feet, 32.22 feet, and 60feo) according to oUe sheet byvvhtsmox dated 1905were also found. One tie (3u.4Ofeet) according motie sheet byNysothdated 1e/swas also found. One tie (white pine) according mfield notes byHarding dated 1946 was also found. The original government bearing trees were searched for, but not found, A magnetic locator was used to search the area around the survey mark nail, but no further evidence of the corner was found. The 2005 coordinate's location compared well with monumented lot corners in the Village of Downing. The 2005 coordinate fell approximately 9% feet long of the distance from the east quarter corner of section 25 reported in the original government sumey. The 2005 coordinate fell approximately 22 feet short of the distance from the south quarter corner of section 30 reported in the original government sumey, The 2005 coordinate fell approximately 12 feet short of the distance from the east quarter corner ofsection 38reported inthe original government survey. When aline was computed from the uoo5coordinate mthe east quarter corner uf section no, u fence corner was found to be approximately 4 feet southerly of the midpoint of the computed line, Because the 2005 000mmate'o location perpetuated pipes found by Nyse^h, and because the u0O5 000rdinate's location compared well with lot corner monuments found in the W||ag* of Downing, the 2005 coordinate was accepted as the bast evidence of the onmern |nooUnn, In May of 2024. after the completion of road construction, a 3" long survey mark nail with a 1" diameter head was set at the 2005 coordinate. 01, Gregg D.
