An onsite soils verification was conducted at the above referenced site as per district policy for all sites with less
than four inches unsaturated soil below the bottom of the A horizon. The intent of this investigation is to confirm
initial observations by the certified soil tester (CST) relating to the presence or absence of redoximorphic
features in the A horizon and subsoil. In-situ soil texture, structure, and consistence factors are also reviewed
as they relate to wastewater application rates. Other site conditions such as percent and direction of slope,
landscape position, land surface contour length, and surface water hydrology P

� r commendations and conclusions portion of this report.
Several soil pits were constructed near the southwest comer of the lot. Previous tests on this parcel indicated
very wet conditions on May 24th following several days of hea vy rainfall.
However, four days later, on May 28th,
I visited this site and found conditions ndltions not to be saturated in shallow hand dug soil borings. A nearby road ditch
may help subsoil drainage in the immediate area.
The A-horizon is thin (-4 inches) and there is generally >_ 2 inches of subsoil present that is free of redox
features. Soil textures are silt loam in the upper part and sandy below. Redox features gradually increased with
depth below 6 inches.
Recommendations for this site include:
1. Keeping the linear loading rate 54.5 gpd/ft and the basal wastewater application rate should be<_0.3 gpd/ft2.
2. Because of slight slopes, the all perimeter (on all sides) landscaping should be designed at a 4:1 or even
5:1 side slope to. p ensure adequate basal area is available to prevent toe leakage.
3. A minimum of 30 inches sand lift is recommended for adequate vertical separation.
4. If an up slope toe can be identified, it should be shaped to divert surface water around/away from the
system. A gentle rade toward the road ad ditch may aid in removing surface water from the site.
5. If this area is subject to flooding and such conditions should be considered during the system design. Tanks
should be anchored to prevent flotation when serviced during periods of high levels of soil saturation or
flooding.
6. The management plan needs to address system operation if flooding should occur.
