Stoner j ', 'tJd r ,_l/,+ An onsite soils verification was conducted at the above referenced site as per district policy for all sites with less than four inches unsaturated soil below the bottom of the A horizon. The intent of this investigation is to confirm initial observations by the certified soil tester (CST) relating to the presence or absence of redoximorphic features in the A horizon and subsoil. In-situ soil texture, structure, and consistence factors are also reviewed as they relate to wastewater application rates. Other site conditions such as percent and direction of slope, landscape position, land surface contour length, and surface water hydrology may also be noted and their significance are factors considered in the recommendations and conclusions portion of this report. Several backhoe pits were constructed to verify that redox features were not present in the A- horizon, and to better evaluate the subsoil. Conditions were very dry in the upper part of the profile. However, water was used to moisten samples to accurately evaluate soil color patterns. Landscape position appears acceptable with little up slope area to contribute to subsurface recharge in the proposed mound area. Y R 4/6 rmfs. 16-42" 10YR 4/4 gr s, ml, w/cad 7.5YR 5/8 and 6/2 rmfs Based on my observations, the following recommendations can be made: 1. Due to the available length of a contour, the linear loading rate should not exceed 6.0 gpd/ft and the basal wastewater application rate should be 5 0.3 gpd/ft2 to compensate for a higher linear loading rate. 2. The down slope toe should be designed at a 4:1 side slope to ensure adequate basal area is available to prevent toe leakage. 3. 30 inches of sand lift is recommended for adequate vertical separation. 4. The up slope toe of the mound should be shaped to divert surface water around/ away from the system. 5. This Y his area may be subject to Y J flooding and this should be considered during the system design. Tanks should be anchored to prevent flotation when serviced during periods of high levels of soil saturation or flooding. 6. The management plan needs to address system operation if flooding should occur. If th a are any questions regarding this report, please contact me. Leroy G.
