BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT PUBLIC HEARING
Meeting of August 28, 1979 , called to order by Chairman Pierson
at 10 :00 a.m. All members present .
Minutes of the July 12, 1979 , meeting approved as read.
Mr. Dave Bylsma, Zoning Administrator and 2 members of the Pepin
County Board of Supervisors were present at the hearings .
Zoning Administrator, Harold Barber, read notice of hearing as
published in the county newspaper.
1 . Correctional Institutions : Wisconsin Dept. of Social Services
wishes to construct a correctional center located on the Health Care
Center property in the agricultural-residential district.
Mr. Peter Stacy presented the request to the Board explaining the
reason for the center and has County Board approval . Mr . Earl Bunk,
Regional Chief of Corrections was in favor.
Questions by Board members .
Chairman Pierson informed Mr. Stacy that the Zoning Administrator
would notify him of their decision after inspection of the property .
2. Mr. Gordon Wears , Town of Star Prairie, requested to construct
a deck on his located on Cedar Lake that would be 69 feet f mm the water .
Mr. Wears presented his request stating that the deck would be 12
feet wide by 32 feet long.
Harold Barber informed the Board that the Department of Natural
Resources has no objections .
Questions by Board members . Chairman Pierson informed Mr. Wears
that the Zoning Administrator would notify him of their decision after
inspection of the property.
3. Mrs . Rose Ward, Town of Kinnickinnic, requested to construct a
driveway that would not meet the 500 foot minimum separation from
driveways on either side of the property that would be divided. Mr.
Keith Hansen presented the request on behalf of Mrs . Ward.
Questions by Board members .
Chairman Pierson informed Mr . Hansen that the Zoning Administrator
would inform him of their decision after inspection the property.
4. Mr. & Mrs . Terry Kuhn, Town of Troy, requested to construct a
garage that would be 110 feet from the centerline of a town road, Coulee
Road. The garage would be 26 ' x 40 ' . Mr. Kuhn presented the request
saying that by putting the garage 133 feet back would obstruct the view
from the window in the house.
Questions by Board members . Chairman Pierson informed Mr . Kuhn
that the Zoning Administrator would inform them of their decision after
inspection of the property.
Hearing recessed for inspections of the- properties='-in question.
After field inspections , the Board entered into an Executive Session.
The Board returned to open session for decisions .
1. Correctional Institution: Motion by Supv. George to grant the
request of the State Dept. of Corrections to construct a correctional
center at the County Health Care Center . Seconded by Supv. Afdahl ,
motion carried.

ighway 65 . The reasons being site distance from a curve from either direction
nd driveway would be located in an area that could cause severe erosion
roblem. Seconded by Supv. George, motion carried.
