Lot lines should be considered as tentative at this point. Four bedroom residences will be assumed although actual building sizes and detailed shapes are only assumed and tentative. Highly treated effluent should be used to protect the environment and best fit effective systems into the somewhat limited areas available. Lot 1 has the option of installing a relatively narrow mound down-slope of and relatively close to the proposed residence. The soils here are relatively shallow above limestone with limits observed at 8-10 inches. Highly treated effluent (aerobic treatment recommended) would require a 2' x 150' rock cell mound on a nominal contour such as 784 as the upslope edge of the rock with 16 inches of sand fill and 0.6 gallons per day per square foot of basal loading. A detailed survey following house staking plus some additional soils work are required to pursue this option. It is possible that a 4' x 75' rock cell system could be located to one side of the residence and not be directly west of the home. Lot 2 has two options as the lot lines are currently configured. An area is available to the north of the residence where a 6' x 50' rock cell mound could'be installed on 816.0 contour as the upslope edge of the rock with 0.5 foot of sand fill. Basal loading should not exceed 0.6 gallons per day per square foot. Design for this option is dependent on final house location and staking as minimum system end and lot- line setbacks are required. A similar lot 2 mound could be located on the 838.3 contour based on all the soil pits except B-5 which shows unusually shallow soils above the limestone bedrock. Including B-5 only adds another inch to the required sand fill. The same dimensions discussed above would work with the current lot line configuration, and again basal loading should not exceed 0.6 gallons per day per square foot. The area represented by pits B-1 through B-4 and B-7 indicates potential for drip dispersal using highly treated effluent. Such a system would have an advantage in that many trees could be retained in the drip dispersal area. Depending on final drive and lot line locations some additional soil profiles would likely have to be constructed to increase available area, map trees to be retained, and obtain approval. This option would be available for either lot 1 or lot 2. Soil loading rates for this option should be on the order of 0.2 gallons per day per square foot indicating a total effective area for a four bedroom residence of about 3000 square feet. This area is indicated if weak silt loam soils are observed. The current pits describe loamy fine sand textures which could accommodate loading rates as high as 0.6 gallons per day per square foot suggesting a minimum of 1000 required effective square feet. A conservative average could be a two zone system with 2000 square feet effective for loamy fine sand soils. Finally the possibility exists for a lot 1 mound system of nominal 10' x 30' rock cell dimensions to be located north of the proposed drive with the upper edge of the rock on the 838.3 contour. Highly treated effluent suggests only 0.5' of sand fill per the discussion above for the lot 2 mound on the 838.3 contour. Basal loading rates of 0.6 require a minimum area of 33.3 feet downslope of the upper rock cell edge.
