4. The applicants shall retain the existing level of native trees,shrubs and groundcover within the 75-foot
setback of Squaw Lake to substantially screen the gazebo from the lake, filter storm water runoff and
sediments before reaching the lake, and provide shoreline wildlife habitat consistent with Section 17.28
of the Ordinance.
5. The applicants shall be responsible for complying with the recommendations for Designated Sensitive
Area#4 in the enclosed Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources report titled,Designation of
Sensitive Areas—Squaw Lake, St. Croix County.
6. Within 30 days of completing construction,the applicant shall submit to the Zoning Administrator
photos of the completed project as viewed from all angles, including from the shoreline of the lake.
This approval does not allow for any additional construction, grading, filling, or clearing of vegetation
beyond the limits of this request. Your information will remain on file in the St. Croix County Planning and
Zoning Department. Please contact the Town of Star Prairie to obtain the necessary building permits for the
proposed construction, and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources for the necessary permits and
approvals for your portable fishing dock. It is your responsibility to ensure compliance with any other local,
state,or federal rules or regulations.

Land Information& This letter confirms zoning approval according to the plans you have submitted to construct a
Planning gazebo within the Shoreland District of Squaw Lake in the Town of Star Prairie. Staff finds
715-386-4674,,,<_>'' that the proposed project meets the spirit and intent of the St. Croix County Zoning Ordinance
and Shoreland District with the following findings:

Recycling 2. The proposed gazebo meets the required 75-foot OHWM setback fi-om Squaw Lake.
7% -386-4675 3. No filling and grading will be done to install the gazebo. The gazebo will be placed on
a wooden deck that will serve as a foundation.
4. According to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources report titled,
Designation of Sensitive Areas — Squaw Lake, St. Croix County, Squaw Lake is a
hypereutrophic lake that is vulnerable to the impacts of shoreline development. The
applicants' shoreline is within Designated Sensitive Area (DSA) #4, which supports
important near-shore terrestrial and shoreline habitat. With conditions for following
the recommendations for DSA #4 in the enclosed report, the gazebo will not
negatively impact this sensitive area.
5. The shoreline currently contains heavy cover of native trees, shrubs, and groundcover
that will adequately screen the proposed gazebo and filter storm water runoff ti-orn the
roof before reaching the lake. One pine tree and one oak tree, both of which are more
than 75 feet from the OHWM of the lake, may need to be removed to install the
gazebo. With conditions for maintaining and enhancing the current level of vegetation
within the 75 foot OHWM setback, the gazebo will not negatively impact the natural
appearance, quality, and ecology of the lake.
6. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has not submitted comments regarding
the issuance of this land use permit.
Approval of the land use permit is subject to the following conditions:
1. The applicants/property owners must contact the Zoning Administrator prior to
commencing construction of the gazebo and when all construction is completed.
2. The gazebo must be left natural or finished in earth tone colors to complement the
natural surroundings.
3. The height of the gazebo shall not exceed 20 feet as measured from the lowest
adjacent grade of the deck to the midpoint between the eaves and the peak pursuant to
Section 17.12(5)of the Ordinance.
