IN REPLY REFER TO: 3550-1
November 27, 1979
Mr. Harold Barber
St. Croix County Zoning Administrator
Box 227
Hammond, Wisconsin 54015
Dear Harold:
I have received your letter of November 16, 1979 regarding the request
for a variance by Willard E. Johnson.
The information provided by the applicant is quite incomplete. He gives
no reason why he seeks a variance, his sketch shows only one pertinent
dimension and no lot dimensions.
I have not had an opportunity to visit this property.
I do know the area, however, and do not feel that the placement of a
structure of this size or nature should be allowed this close to the
lake. This will surely detract from the natural shoreland beauty and
natural appearance of the shoreline. The application states that this is
for "storage and car". Why does a garage for a car have to be placed 2
feet from the water? I would question, also, the stability of a structure
foundation that close to the water, especially on Cedar Lake where water
levels are known to fluctuate. It appears from the drawing that there is
ample room near or on the raodway side of the house for a garage.
Thank you for the opportunity to comment on this application.
