The mound basal area (L x V~ is plowed with a moldboazd or . chisel low. Plowing may not proceed if the soil is wet enough at the plow depth to form a I/4 inch soil wire P when a sample is rolled between the palms of the hands. ASTM C-33 quality sand is placed unmediately after-::plowing. Sand is placed with a tracked machine keeping 12 or more inches of sand under the tracks or ~ is placed overhead by a backhoe. Special care must be used when placing sand of less than one foot- thickness to minimize compaction of the plowed surface.
