ST RO .,, RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ST. CROIX COUNTY
' �' '''° �. SHERIFF TO CHARGE A FEE TO OUTSIDE AGENCIES FOR
THE SERVICES OF THE COMPUTER FORENSIC LAB
1 WHEREAS, the St. Croix County Sheriff's Office operates a Computer Forensic Lab;
2 and
3
4 WHEREAS, said Computer Forensic Lab is necessary in the investigation of criminal
5 matters; and
6
7 WHEREAS, the operation of the Computer Forensic Lab requires continuous upgrades
8 for computer hardware, software and continuing training for the Investigators; and
9
10 WHEREAS, the St. Croix County Sheriff is seeking a funding source to help offset the
11 cost of operating the Computer Forensic Lab; and
12
13 WHEREAS, the St. Croix County Sheriff's Office Computer Forensics Lab is able to
14 perform the extraction of critical evidence in a much quicker time period than the Wisconsin
15 State Crime Lab; and
16
17 WHEREAS, agencies from around the region are utilizing said lab; and
18
19 WHEREAS, investigations from outside agencies often connect back to a criminal
20 element within St. Croix County; and
21
22 WHEREAS, St. Croix County desires to aid area law enforcement in criminal
23 investigations.

25 THEREFORE, be it resolved, that the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors does hereby
26 authorize the St. Croix County Sheriff to collect fees (see attached fee schedule) for services
27 provided to agencies by the Computer Forensic Lab operated by the St. Croix County Sheriff's
28 Office under agreements pursuant to Wis. Stat. secs. 66.0301 and 66.0303.
