General
The conventional septic system shall be operated in accordance %%ilh SPS 332-384 Wis. Adni. Code. and shall be maintained
in accordance x%ith component manual SBD-10705-13 (N.01i01). All local andlor stale rules pertaining IL) scstertt
maintenance and maintenance reporting shall be complied with. Questions on the operation or n►aiuttcnalice of the system

Septic Tank
Septic tank sen-icing mechanics comply t~ ith SPS 383.54(l ge). Septic tank to be located „ithin 150' of sen ice pad. i% ith
bottom of tank to be I below ser icc pad e1cvation. The operating condition of the septic tank and outlet filter shall be
assessed at least once eN er*N to o N can by inspection. The septic tank contents shall be removed w inen the sludge and scum in
the tank exceed I!3 the liquid \ olunnc of the tank The contents of the septic tank shall be disposed of in accordance with NR
113. Wis. Adnn. Code. by an indiN idual certified to service septic tanks under s. 28 1.48, Stats. If the contents of the tank are
not renno\ ed at the lime of a biannual assessnncnl. maintenance personnel shall advise the o« ner of when sen ice will be
needed to maintain less than 1113 scuts and sludge accunntlalion in the lank. The outlet filler shall be cleaned as necessary to
ensure proper operation. The filter cartridge should not be rennoNed unless provisions are made to rclain solids in the tank
that may sloe<oh off the filter i% lien removed from its enclosure if the filter is equipped with an alarm. the filter shall be
serviced if the alann is activated. Septic tuck nnanholes risers. access risers, and co\ crs should be inspeclcd for waler
tightness and soundness. :'Access openings used for sen ice and assessnnenl shall be scaled nratertighl upon the completion of
service. An opening deemed unsound. defective. or subject to failuic must be replaced. E\poscd access openings greater
than 3 inches in diameter shall be secured b} an effectik e locking dc% ice to prevent accidental or unatuthori/ed entry into the tank.

component. The addition of biological or chemical addnln cs to enhance septic lank pcrfornnance is generally not required. If
such products are used they shall be approved for septic tank use by the Dcpatnnent of Commerce. SafetN and Buildings
DiN ision.
Soil Absorption Cell
Trees or shrubs should not be planted direclly on the soil absorption system. Hie area above and around the system should
be seeded and mulched as necessar to prevent erosion and pro\ ide some degree of frost protection. 1'rntlic (other than for
-'egetati- e maintenance) over the s\ stem is to be avoided. Soil compaction may hinder acrnnon of the infiltrative surface
within and above the systenn and %%ill promote frost penetration during cold weather ntontlls. Cold weather installations
(October-March) dictate that the s}stem be hcayily mulcined for frost protection

Observation pipes within the dispersal cell shall be checked for effluent ponding. Ponding levels shall be reported to the
owner. Levels above 4 inches indicate an impending hydraulic failure requiring additional, more frequent nnoniloring

if the septic tank or any of its components become defective the tank or component shall be repaired or replaced to keep file
system in proper operating; condition. Excessive ponding within the dispersal cell will be eliminated by installing a ne%% soil
absorpl ion cell to bring the system into proper operating condition.
