The Building is located on lot #23 of the Exit 4 Business Park, further described as the NE-SW-27-29-09W of Hudson Township in St. Croix County, WI. The daycare operates daily from Monday through Friday and is closed on the weekends. The building currently has two separate treatment tanks. A 1000/500 gallon tank is serving all building drains except the kitchen and a 2000 gallon treatment tank is serving the kitchen. Both tanks have outlet filters installed. A water meter was installed in the building to determine the daily/weekly usage. Two months of daily meter readings indicate the peak 5-day usage is 5,000 gallons with the highest 1-day reading of 1.290 gallons. My recommendation is to size the absorption component 150% above the 5-day average flow of 5,000 gallons. Therefore, the daily design flow would be 1,000 x 150°! = 1500 GPD over a 5-day period. Flows will be captured and dosed over a 7-day period as outlined in the flow charc below. Weekday DWF Daily Dose (forward) Storage Monday 1250 250 Tuesday 1250 500 Wednesday 1250 750 Thursday 1250 1000 Friday 1250 1250 Saturday 1250 0 Sunday 1250 0 Wastewater was sampled from the 2000 gallon kitchen treatment tank and the results of the sampling are as follows: BOD 800 mg/L, TSS 130 mg/L & FOG 12 mg/L. Based on these factors the BOD load on the POWTS will be (1.250 x 800 x 8.34)/1,000,000 = 8.3 lbs. of BOD/day The proposed POWTS design will have the capability of removing 11.3 lbs. of BOD/day. A soil test was completed and the results are attached to this submittal. An on-site was completed with Mr. Edwin Taylor of DSPS to address the fill observed on-site. It is our determination that the fill on-site has not been significantly compacted, is without redoximorphic features and is of a loamy fine sand or coarser texture. Due to the well-drained characteristics of the soil and limited available area I am suggesting the use of an at-grade component with a SLR not to exceed 1.0 gal/ft'/day for effluent #2. The construction of the POWTS will include the contir ued_use-ef the exis~tin~ treatment tanks. The 2000 gallon treatment tank from the kitchen will serve as a grease interceptor. The combined wastewater from the 2000 and the 1000/500 treatment tanks will collect ina new Wieser 1100/1800 pre-aeratioNflow equalization tank. Wastewater will be dosed to the Nayadic treatment unit from the 1800 flow equalization chamber. The treated effluent from the Nayadic will drain by gravity into a new Wieser 600/1000 stilling/dose tank. Highly treated effluent will then be dosed to the 125 x 10' at-grade component. Construction of the at-grade component will be somewhat difficult as it will need to be built from the end of the component. This type of construction will require extreme care and caution so as to not compact the soils during transport of materials over the plow layer. The installer must use a deep chisel plow to a depth of 12" or greater. The plowing must be done when the soil is dry and will not form a ribbon while texturing.
