WHEREAS: 'Section 66.945, Wisconsin Statutes, provides for the promotion of
regional planning in Wisconsin through the creation and operation
of regional planning commissions; and
WHEREAS: There has been a demonstrated need for a regional planning commission
for the entire region within Barron, Chippewa, Clark, Dunn, Eau Claire,
Polk and St. Croix Counties; and
WHEREAS: The need for such a regional planning commission takes into account
elements of homogeniety based upon, but not limited to, such con-
siderations as a commonality of social and economic interests, values
and problems, the existence of special or acute agricultural, forestry,
conservation or other rural problems, extent of urban development, top-
ographic and geographic conformations, and the realization that such factors
take on a regional character; and
WHEREAS: Such a regional planning commission is necessary to continue the Wisconsin
tradition of sister counties working together in partnership in order
to coordinate the interests of all governing bodies to the mutual
benefit of the region.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the County Board of Supervisors of ST. CROIX
County does hereby petition the Honorable Warren P. Knowles, Governor of
Wisconsin, for the creation of a regional planning commission for the
