WHEREAS; It is the intention of the St, Croix County Board of
Supervisors to provide and maintain a county mental hospital
facility which will meet current standards for care of the
mentally ill; and,
WHEREAS; The Main Building of the St. Croix County Hospital was
constructed in 1897 as a' custodial asylum for the chronically
insane; and,
WHEREAS; The said Main Building of the St. Croix County Hospital
is ill adapted to the requirements of a modern mental hospital,
lacking in both adequate patient quarters and also in appropriate
space for professional treatment staff; and,
WHEREAS; The renovation and conversion of the said Main Hospital
Building to render it suitable as a modern treatment facility
would be economically unfeasible;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Trustees of the
St. Croix County Hospital be and hereby is authorized to retain
the architectural firm, Carl W. Schubert and Associates, Incorporated,
for the purpose of completing plans for the construction of an
80-bed addition to the St, Croix County Hospital, the construction
of the said addition to be contingent upon the receipt of State
Aid, under the provisions of Section 51.40 of the Wisconsin
Statutes for 100% of the interest charges covering necessary
borrowing or this construction project;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the County Hospital Trustees in
carrying out their duties under the terms of this authorization
shall cooperate with and be subject to review by the appropriate
Committees of the St, Croix County Board of Supervisors.
