WHEREAS, Rural traffic law enforcement has long been the subject of
I
discussion between legislators, police agencies and governmental agencies;
and in the interest of greater highway safety, efficiency and economy in
rural traffic law enforcement, and to avoid conflicts in duplication of
I

patrol and supervision, and to comply with the National Highway Safety Act
of 1966 regarding concurrent jurisdictional boundaries and problems it is
necessary that a system be developed to implement the highway standards and
i
THEREFORE IT IS RESOLVED: That the St. Croix County Traffic Police assume
primary but not exclusive enforcement jurisdiction on all federal , state, county
and township highways in St. Croix County, excepting all interstate highways
within St. Croix County and any part of the federal , state or county trunk high-
ways system which is located within the corporate limits of the -cities within
St. Croix County,
IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED: That the county clerk is directed to forward a copy

of this resolution to each and every Senator or Assemblyman representing any district
in St. Croix County.
