County Board of. Supervisors at their Feb. 28th session in support of
the St. Croix River Bridge location being South of the present Bridge.

RESOLUTION
Proposed St. Croix River Bridge Site
WHEREAS the Oak Park Heights Village Council did at their regular
meeting on January 10, 1972 unanimously oppose the St. Croix River
bridge site crossings that have been proposed and lying north of the
present interstate bridge at Stillwater, Minnesota;
WHEREAS the scenic grandeur and historic culture of a natural
recreation area would be seriously damaged, if not totally destroyed,
by said bridge and the usual commercial appurtenances that accompany
these structures; and,
WHEREAS in the interest of ecology and preserving the environment
and natural beauty of the St. Croix River valley as it now exists north
of the present interstate bridge, and fully realizing the dire need for
a new bridge to be se, located as t.c- ser-ze the bulk of today's popula-
tion; and,
WHEREAS a more surt.ablr and lonical site does exist south of the
present interstate bridqe that 4 ,,,1d have a nominal effect on the afore
mentioned natural reso?irces and ., ,,ld better provide the needed convey-
ance to the population of the area as well as interstate traffic;
NOW THEREFOU be it re ;;)lved that the Oak Park Heights Village
Council does unanimously end,«rse anc recommend the bridge site proposed
and lying south of the present. interstate bridge at Stillwater, Minnesota.
This resolution .was passed by Mayor and Council of the Village of
Oak Park Heights January 10, 1972.
