January 6, 2000
Meeting called to order at 9 : 00 A.M. by Chair Standafer.
Members Present: Nancy Bieraugel arrived at 9 : 15 A.M. , Linda
Luckey, Tom O' Connell, Gerald Peterson and Daryl Standafer.
Others Present: Two Hudson High School Government Students, Nick
McGee and Josh Mattila and Finance Director Rich Loney.
Adoption of Agenda: Motion by O' Connell, 2nd by Peterson to
adopt the agenda as published. Carried.
Adoption of Minutes: Motion by Luckey, 2nd by Peterson to adopt
the corrected December 7, 1999 minutes . Carried.
Next Meeting Date: Tuesday, February 1, 2000 .
Legislative Issues: The committee members decided the tobacco
litigation resolution declining St . Croix' s participation should
not be advanced to the Finance Committee or County Board. They
had decided at a previous meeting not to do anything at this time
regarding tobacco litigation.
Chair Standafer passed out a resolution from Dodge County. It is
a Highway issue and they were faxed a copy of the resolution.
The highway department is interested and eventually would like to
support Dodge County. They will come to the committee when they
are ready to act .
Redistricting: The committee members are going to have to
instill in the County Board members that decreasing board size is
a positive and progressive move . After the April election the
resolution will be brought off the table to vote on.
Restructuring of committees should be a part of size reduction.
The committee will need input from other county committees to
analyze committees and board organization.
Loan Discussion: Finance Director, Rich Loney informed the
committee that Prism Plastics, Inc . has made their first payment
on their grant . The County now needs to set up a policy and
procedure manual for the next phase, which is the county
revolving loan fund. Loney and Ann Raid from Regional Planning
will work together to bring a draft manual to the committee .
Motion by O' Connell, 2nd by Bieraugel to adjourn the meeting at
10 :25 A.M. Carried.
